« Chalone 2002 Estate Pinot Noir | Main | Wine Tastings: Fee vs. Free »

Drew Goin

I am the wine buyer for a shop in Shreveport, Louisiana. I recently had the pleasure of tasting McCrea's Syrah and Mourvedre wines (2004 vintage). I must say that they are both incredible models of the quality juice coming out of Washington state nowadays. The Mourvedre displayed great body and concentration, all wrapped in a balanced package. I know it is a full-bodied, spicy red, but the weight seemed lighter than Mourvedres from Cali and Spain. Overall, I gotta say that these wines are wonderful! I know they will find safe homes on the store shelves for many years to come - assuming that they don't become too popular with my customers!
