This Spanish wine, made from the Mourvedre grape (called Monastrell in Spain) is selling for $11 per bottle at PCC this month. A wonderful wine, especially for the price; highly recommended.

This a very pleasant surprize. What a wonderful aroma and an even better taste on the palate. Tastes more expensive. I had it with pizza with everything on it. (for many years this has always been my litmus test, if a cabernet stands up with a full topping pizza, then it will work with the dark meats) Absolutely Outstanding!

an excellent wine for the price indeed. Balanced and expressive without being obnoxious. Monastrell/Mourvedre is a low acid grape that can become very big in the mouth.I sell this in the Minnesota market.

Considerable confusion has resulted for internet reports that DNA fingerprinting had confirmed that Monastrell was not the same grape as Mourvedre. These reports were the result of the mis-reading of a UC Davis analysis that a particular sample they had, had been misidentified
